Breakfast is the most important meal of the day – but who doesn’t know that? If you’re like myself and hate mornings, the thought of making breakfast on top of everything else you need to do before work is the stuff of bad dreams. But making a healthy breakfast doesn’t have to be a nightmare. To prove this, we’ve put together five of our favourite simple and delicious high protein breakfasts. Try them out. Mix and match. There’s a recipe for every weekday morning so switch things up and keep breakfast time, exciting, delicious and healthy.

5 Simple Protein Breakfasts

1. PROTEIN SMOOTHIE

INGREDIENTS

  • 400ml almond or coconut milk
  • 60g protein powder
  • Handful of frozen berries
  • Handful of frozen spinach
  • 1 Tbsp nut butter

METHOD

  • Blend it all together!

2. BREAKFAST MUFFINS

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 red onion
  • 1 red pepper
  • Handful chopped spinach
  • 2 rashers bacon
  • 20g cheese

METHOD

  • Thinly slice all ingredients except cheese and fry off for 5 mins in a pan
  • Add to muffin tins and pour in whisked eggs
  • Top with grated cheese and oven bake for 12-18 mins

3. STEAK, SPINACH & NUTS

INGREDIENTS

  • Any cut of steak
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • Black pepper
  • Handful spinach
  • 20g mixed nuts

METHOD

  • Add steak to soy sauce, crushed garlic and black pepper
  • Cook to preference then leave to rest
  • Add spinach to the same pan and wilt
  • Serve with steak and nuts

4. BACON, SAUSAGE & EGGS

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 high quality chicken sausages (Heck/musclefood)
  • 2 rashers bacon
  • 2 eggs

METHOD

  • Cook sausages and bacon
  • Prepare eggs to preference – fried, scrambled or poached

5. CHICKEN, AVOCADO & BACON SALAD

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 chicken breast
  • 1 rasher bacon
  • Half an avocado
  • Mixed leaf salad
  • Cherry tomatoes

METHOD

  • Season and cook the chicken breast with the bacon
  • Serve on the sliced avocado with the salad
